FAQ

Here are clear answers to the questions we hear most often about cylindrical screen-printing machines, screens and support. If you need help before ordering or after install, our Aeroton team can talk you through the next step.

Which products do you supply and set up?

We supply cylindrical screen-printing machines, screens and the related setup items needed for bottles, cups and tubes. Most customers come to us when they want cleaner branding on curved containers, better print repeatability, or a machine that can keep up with local production demands. We work with small and growing workshops as well as established print rooms in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Midrand, Durban and Cape Town.

If you are not sure which machine size or screen specification you need, send your product dimensions and the material type. We can advise on print area, container diameter, registration requirements and drying space so the equipment fits your line properly.

How do installs and site setup work?

Installations are done nationwide, with regular work in Aeroton, Johannesburg South, Midrand and Pretoria. Before we arrive, we confirm power supply, floor space, airflow and where the operator will load and unload parts. This helps prevent delays on the day and reduces the chance of rework later.

  • Share your site address, product list and target daily output.
  • Confirm whether you have single-phase or three-phase power.
  • Clear the install area and make space for screens, ink and cleaning materials.
  • Allow time for testing, colour setup and operator handover.

For coastal sites, we also look at humidity and storage conditions because moisture can affect screens, inks and drying times. In some cases a simple layout change saves a lot of trouble, especialy where space is tight.

Do you train operators and production staff?

Yes. Training is part of our support and is often the difference between average results and consistent production. Farieda Jacobs handles production training with the team, covering setup, print pressure, screen alignment, squeegee handling, cleaning and basic fault finding. We keep it practical, so operators can apply the steps on the same day.

Training can be done during installation or booked separately if you have new staff or you want to improve output after a few months of running. We also assist with colour setup help, which is useful when customers want repeatable branding across different container batches.

What screens and screen making support is available?

We assist with screen making and screen reclaiming for cylindrical printing work. That means help with mesh choice, stencil preparation, cleaning, reclaiming used screens and making sure the screen condition is right for the job. Good screen care matters when you are printing on glass, plastic or coated containers because wear shows up quickly on curved surfaces.

  • New screen setup for short runs and repeat work.
  • Screen reclaiming to recover usable frames and reduce waste.
  • Advice on storage so screens stay clean and ready.
  • Checks on tension, stencil quality and print consistency.

If your prints are blurring, ghosting or picking up dust, the issue may be in the screen process rather than the machine itself. We can help trace that before you waste material.

How do breakdown repairs and maintenance calls work?

When a machine stops, the first goal is to get production moving safely again. Sibusiso Nene coordinates service requests and Johan van der Merwe assists with technical diagnosis, spare parts and repair planning. We support breakdown repairs, preventive maintenance and spares supply for customers across South Africa.

For urgent issues, send the machine model, a short fault description and photos or a video clip if possible. That lets us identify whether it is a drive issue, alignment problem, air supply fault or a worn part. Preventive maintenance is usually cheaper than waiting for a full stoppage, especially when you have orders due and the team is under pressure.

What should I ask before buying a machine?

Before you place an order, it helps to be clear on output, product size and the level of automation you need. Thabo Mokoena and the sales team often walk customers through these points so the machine matches the work, not just the budget. That saves a lot of frustration later.

  • What bottle, cup or tube sizes will you print most often?
  • How many units do you need per shift?
  • What power supply and floor space do you have available?
  • Do you need setup help, training and service after delivery?

We also look at the type of decoration you want, whether it is single colour work, repeat branding or frequent changeovers. If you plan to grow, we can advise on a setup that gives room to expand without replacing everything too soon.
